About the artists

The Blackburns:

Nick Palmer and Joel Tannenbaum both grew up playing in punk and indie bands in the Philadelphia area, but barely crossed paths until 2023, when they were introduced by a mutual friend. With expectations set well below zero, they started sharing songs, then recording songs, then bringing in former bandmates of Nick’s to play the songs. Before they knew it more than a year had passed and they had an actual band with an actual album on an actual label (Sell the Heart Records) and were playing actual shows, in some cases opening for artists that people had actually heard of, their songs were being played on actual radio stations, and actual people were streaming them, downloading them, and in some cases even paying actual money for actual physical copies.

Early Riser is a cello-driven pop-punk band from Brooklyn, NY. Inspired by the songwriting of The Mountain Goats, Against Me!, AJJ, and The Front Bottoms, Kiri writes clever, relatable lyrics about mental health, social relationships, and figuring out what’s important to you. She has a knack for capturing life’s challenges with a sense of humor and a focus on positivity and growth. Her words are elevated by the band’s soaring cello riffs, driving rhythms, and tight vocal harmonies. Help celebrate the release of their upcoming album, Big Life!

Synergy Corp is an atomic age kitsch pop headquartered in Philadelphia; A for-profit enterprise committed to ripping off the B-52s without apology.

Brian McGee is the singer and co-founder of 90’s punk band Plow United. During Plow’s inactive period (1998-2011), Brian lived in western NC where he developed his songwriting and deepened his knowledge of American folk music. The 2011 Plow United reunion also coincided with him moving back north to Asbury Park, NJ, where he wrote and recorded his third solo album, Ruin Creek. He currently fronts the band Hot Brains! and owns Twin House Music in Carrboro, North Carolina.
