Alejandro Escovedo has spent decades redefining what a modern rock artist can be. From first-wave punk band The Nuns and pioneering cowpunk group Rank and File to Austin’s influential True Believers and an acclaimed solo career, Escovedo has built a body of work shaped by fearless experimentation and constant evolution. In 1998, No Depression named him Artist of the Decade.
His album Echo Dancing continues that journey by reimagining songs from throughout his career. Recorded in Italy with Don Antonio and Nicola Peruch, the collection transforms familiar material through new arrangements, sounds and perspectives. Songs including “Bury Me” and “Castañuelas” emerge with renewed energy, connecting Escovedo’s past with the artist he is today.
Drawing inspiration from punk, glam, Americana, blues and the avant-garde, Escovedo approaches every song as something alive—never completely finished and always capable of revealing something new. Echo Dancing is both a celebration of his remarkable history and proof that he remains committed to moving forward.
