Weddings at the queen

Planning a wedding can be both an exhilarating and daunting experience, especially when you’re aiming to make your special day unforgettable. If you’re considering The Queen in Wilmington, DE, as your venue, you’re already on the right track! This historic site offers a blend of vintage charm and modern amenities, making it a perfect backdrop for a memorable wedding. Here are some tips and tricks to ensure your celebration at The Queen goes off without a hitch.

For our first tip, we recommend taking full advantage of The Queen’s versatile spaces. The venue offers a variety of settings, from the grand ballroom, to more intimate side rooms, allowing you to customize your event. Consider using The Olymipa Room for your ceremony, then transitioning to a different area for dancing and dinner. This not only keeps your guests intrigued, but also makes the most out of the venue’s unique layout. Additionally, don’t hesitate to incorporate the historical aspects of The Queen into your wedding theme; vintage decor, classic color schemes, and old-world charm can complement the venue’s architecture beautifully!

Second, be sure to plan your photography strategically. The Queen boasts several picturesque spots, both indoors and outdoors, that can serve as stunning backdrops for your wedding photos. From the ornate detailing of the building, to seeing your name in lights with a custom marquee, every corner of The Queen offers a unique photo opportunity. Make sure to work with your photographer to scout these locations ahead of time! Planning ahead this way ensures you capture the venue’s essence and your day’s special moments without any stress.

Finally, it’s important to consider the logistics and guest experience. The Queen is conveniently located in downtown Wilmington, making it easily accessible for out-of-town guests. Ask us to provide a list of nearby accommodations and local attractions to enhance their visit. Also, consider transportation options: arranging a shuttle service can be a thoughtful touch that adds to the overall convenience and enjoyment of your guests. With a parking garage across the street, your guests won’t have the stress of finding parking. By paying attention to these details, you ensure that your wedding at The Queen is not only beautiful, but also smoothly executed, leaving you and your guests with cherished memories for years to come.

Delaware Online: The Queen to Dust off Her Musical Throne This Spring

by Andre Lamar for Delaware Online

The Queen in Wilmington will reopen her castle for concerts upstairs in April.

Tickets will be announced on social media around the middle of next week.

In April, the Crown Stage will feature seated and ticketed performances by local acts Aziza Nailah, Maya Belardo and Best Kept Soul, said The Queen’s general manager, Sam Blumin. A comedic Drag Diva Brunch series starts April 3.

The Crown room will open with an English gastropub-themed kitchen and socially distanced full-band shows at 50% capacity, per state rules. In normal times, full capacity is about 250 for that stage.

On the ground level, the open-air Knights Bar reopens March 19. This new addition to The Queen accommodates about 45 to 50 guests and offers an opportunity for local rising artists to showcase their talents. Newark artist Nic Snow will perform there March 31.

General Manager Sam Blumin Recognized On Delaware Online’s List of Most Influential Delawareans

The Queen’s General Manager, Sam Blumin, was recognized by Delaware Online as one of the most influential people in the Delaware Music Scene.

In the Arts & Entertainment category for this exclusive feature on Delaware Online, Blumin was recognized for his work in revitalizing The Queen after the Buccini/Pollin Group took over the management and began reopening in the midst of a global pandemic. The music industry has been suffering, as many industries have, during this time of uncertainty. With Blumin’s vision and hardwork The Queen has managed to reopen the Knights Bar and Crown Room with strict safety protocols in place.

BPG’s Co-Founders, Chris and Rob Buccini, also made the list being recognized in the Business, Arts & Entertainment, and Sports sections.

We’re excited for more exciting acts to be taking our stage later this year.
